Updated: Jun 29, 2021

How to end your day, so you feel rejuvenated and calm!

“ An empty lantern provides no light. Self-care is the fuel that allows your light to shine brightly.”

A night routine to me is all about self-care. It is easy to rush this part as the whole day has likely been busy and you just want to get undressed and go to bed. However, taking some time for yourself will actually be more beneficial because it will let your body and mind relax and recharge, so you can tackle the next day. I always remind myself that the day starts the night before, so love your night routine! Note: This night routine includes my suggestions to ensure you feel rejuvenated; however, feel free to make changes that suit your needs, so you can feel at your best. Now, let’s get ready for bed!

1. Hydrate

Drinking water will help you feel satiated and stay hydrated during the night. I recommend that you stop drinking water about 2 hours before sleeping, so you don't have to get up during the night to go to the bathroom. This will interrupt your sleep and leave you feeling tired in the morning, which will lead to unproductivity ( and none of us want that!) 2. Undress

Take a shower, throw on your pajamas, and apply some lotion or oil to your body, so you feel rejuvenated and your skin remains hydrated! Pro Tip: Wear loose clothes, so your skin can breathe!

3. Beautify

It’s skin care time! First, brush your teeth because oral hygiene is key in a good skincare routine. Next, wash your face and do any necessary steps for your skin type. Last, brush your hair. Pro Tip: Tie your hair in a braid, so it does not get tangled during the night.

4. Unwind

Set an alarm and put your phone aside. Try to not use any technology at this point because the blue light will make it more difficult for you to get restful sleep. I recommend reading, journaling, and meditating.. Pro Tip: Write down three good deeds you did. This will help you think about who you are and what impact you have on someone else. 5. Shut Down

Tuck yourself in bed and listen to some white noise or do a sleep meditation. Close your eyes, relax your whole body, and clear your mind. Pro Tip: Focus on your breathing. This will help you fall asleep faster and get deeper sleep as well. Want to listen to some white noise? If so, check this link out: White noise audio. Sweet Dreams, Hue Girl!
